Understanding how carpet is made is important when cleaning carpets. Let’s start with the backing of the carpet. The backing is made up of a mesh and glue that hold the carpet fibers together. The fibers themselves are made up of plastic or wool.

Too high of heat breaks down the glue holding the fibers together, leading to the carpet stretching out, leaving ripples and fiber shedding.

The high heat to plastic fibers will cause the fiber to shrink, leading to loss of pile height

Dirt is Heavy

Dirt will always sink to the bottom of water. When the carpet is flooded with water, the dirt will sink to the bottom of the carpet and even to the subfloor. We believe there is a fine line between not enough water, just enough, and too much.

Not enough water and the soiling will not break down and release from the carpet. Too much water and the soiling sinks to the bottom of the carpet waiting to return as the carpet dries. Just enough water is a technique that we have mastered. Just enough water to break down the soiling. Just enough water to allow the soiling to be extracted out. Just enough water that your carpet is left clean and dry.
